Understanding of protection board
The need for protection for rechargeable lithium batteries stems from their inherent characteristics. Because lithium batteries' materials inherently protect against overcharge, over-discharge, overcurrent, short circuits, and extreme high-temperature charging and discharging, lithium battery components often include a sophisticated protection board and a current fuse.
Lithium battery protection typically involves the coordinated efforts of a protection circuit board and current-control devices such as a PTC. The protection board, comprised of electronic circuitry, accurately monitors the cell voltage and the current in the charge and discharge circuits at all times, maintaining constant control over the current circuit in temperatures ranging from -40°C to +85°C. The PTC protects the battery from severe damage in high-temperature environments.
