Photovoltaic cell array

 

Solar photovoltaic cell arrays are the basic components of grid-connected photovoltaic systems. Through the photovoltaic cell array, the absorbed sunlight energy is directly and effectively converted into electrical energy. At present, the solar photovoltaic cell arrays used in engineering projects are mostly formed by a certain number of crystalline silicon cells that are connected in series or parallel as required and fixed on a bracket.

 

A solar cell is the smallest unit of photoelectric conversion, typically ranging in size from 2cm*2cm to 15cm*15cm. Its operating voltage is approximately 0.45 to 0.5V, and it is generally not used as a standalone power source. Its operating current is approximately 20-15mA/cm². After being connected in series and parallel and packaged, they form a solar cell module, the smallest unit of power supply. To meet the output power requirements of the load, in engineering, a large number of solar cell modules are typically connected to form a solar cell array.

 

The standard number of solar cell arrays is generally 36 (10cm*10cm). This means that one solar photovoltaic cell module generates approximately 17V, which is just enough to charge a battery with a rated voltage of 12V. By connecting the battery modules in series, the output power can reach kilowatts or even megawatts. In theory, the output power of the photovoltaic array can be infinite. However, due to various practical conditions, photovoltaic battery modules can generally only provide power for smaller power requirements.
