Strong Start Capability 12V Lead Acid Battery Maintenance Free

Maintenance-free lead-acid batteries (as shown in Figure 2-1, with the "MF" logo on the outer shell) are now commonly used in automobiles. They offer the following advantages over traditional batteries:

1) The plate grids use a lead-calcium alloy. Traditional battery grids use a lead-antimony alloy. Antimony contaminates the spongy pure lead on the negative plate, weakening the back EMF within the battery after a full charge. This leads to excessive water decomposition, causing large amounts of oxygen and hydrogen to escape from the positive and negative plates, respectively, reducing the electrolyte. Replacing antimony with calcium alters the battery's back EMF after a full charge, reducing overcharge current and the rate of liquid vaporization, thereby minimizing electrolyte loss. Furthermore, the lead-calcium alloy grid reduces self-discharge, extending the battery's shelf life.

2) The separators utilize ultra-fine fibers, which absorb and protect the electrolyte, achieving a completely sealed structure.

These advantages of maintenance-free lead-acid batteries eliminate the cumbersome daily maintenance tasks of checking the fluid level and refilling the electrolyte.
