Introduction to Lithium-Ion Cell Parameters

 

1. Like other batteries, lithium-ion cells have positive and negative electrodes. In addition to polarity, there are other technical considerations to consider.
Key points: voltage, capacity, size, charge/discharge rate performance, number of cycles, and ambient operating temperature.


2. Cell Material: The cell's active material determines the discharge voltage (plateau voltage) and other basic performance characteristics.
a. Lithium cobalt oxide (LCO)/graphite: 3.7V. Generally used in digital devices, requiring high energy density.
b. Ternary metal monoxide (NMC)/graphite: 3.6V. This material offers a high cost-effectiveness, with a balanced balance of capacity density, cycle life, and safety.
c. Lithium manganese oxide (LMO)/graphite: 3.8V. Generally used in safety-critical products such as mining lamps. It has a low volumetric capacity density and is relatively inexpensive, making it a low-cost battery cell.
d. Lithium iron phosphate (LFP)/graphite: 3.2V. This material offers excellent safety and cycle life, but is more expensive and exhibits poor low-temperature discharge performance. Commonly used in large-scale power and energy storage batteries.


3. Capacity: The capacity of a battery cell is directly proportional to its volume, measured in milliampere-hours (mAh) or ampere-hours (Ah).


4. Watt-hour to watt-hour conversion: Multiply the ampere-hours (Ah) by the battery voltage (V). For example: 2000mAh * 3.7V = 2Ah * 3.7V = 7.4Wh.


5. Rate: The charge and discharge rate the battery can withstand, expressed in C. 1C means charging or discharging at a current equal to 1 times the battery capacity.
For example: For a 2600mAh 18650 cell, a 2C discharge current equals 5200mA, and a 0.5C charge current equals 1300mA.


6. Cycle count: The lithium battery industry requires 80% remaining capacity after 300 cycles and 60% after 500 cycles.


7. Ambient temperature range: This may vary slightly depending on the material. The discharge temperature range is -20°C to 60°C, and the charging temperature range is 0°C to 45°C.


Note: Lithium batteries cannot be charged below 0°C, as this will severely affect their cycle performance.

Quality Control

 

1. Raw material quality control: all raw materials will be fully inspected before production. Only those that pass the inspection can be used for the next production step.

2. During production, Each process is supervised by QC staff, who will conduct production inspections from time to time. Any problems found will be solved as soon as possible.

3. QC before shipment: all products will be subjected to aging tests, and each batch of goods needs to provide a full-process quality control report, and no defects are allowed.

A:To determine the appropriate size battery you need, simply provide us with information on the appliances you use, the duration of usage, and your desired energy storage time. We can then calculate the necessary battery size for you.

 

Q:If I only use electricity at night, can I use the electricity generated during the day at night?

A:You can store the electricity generated during the day in the battery for use at any time. No problem.
