Texas' first rooftop photovoltaic consumer protection bill passed the legislative process, boosting market confidence

SB1697, the first consumer protection bill for rooftop distributed photovoltaic energy storage systems in Texas, has been voted through and is awaiting the governor's signature.

 

The core content of the bill authorizes the Texas Public Utilities Commission (PUC) to develop and regularly update a special website to provide standardized guidance to potential photovoltaic system users and protect consumer rights, which will effectively enhance consumer confidence in the state's household rooftop photovoltaic home energy storage system market. The Solar Energy Industry Association (SEIA) strongly supports the introduction of the bill.
