On August 3, 2025, Dominican Minister of Energy and Mines Joel Santos announced that the Dominican National Electricity Interconnection System (SENI) reached a new record high of 3,896.10 MW at 10:00 PM on Friday, reflecting significant improvements in the system's generation diversity and resilience, ensuring a stable and efficient power supply.

The new record represents a 30.10 MW increase from the peak of 3,866 MW in October 2024, primarily due to a surge in residential and commercial consumption during the hot season and the continued strengthening of distribution infrastructure. SENI, the national interconnection system encompassing the entire generation, transmission, and distribution chain, has benefited from recent investments.

The Ministry of Energy and Mines emphasized its commitment to continuously modernizing the system, supporting sustainable development goals, and strengthening the network to address growing energy storage demand.
