Egypt Signs Multiple Power Purchase Agreements Covering 5.62 GW of Renewable Energy and Storage Projects

Egypt's Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy has signed Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with several private sector companies for renewable energy and energy storage projects totaling 5,620 megawatts.
These landmark agreements were highlighted at the Battery Energy Storage Conference 2025, where leading battery energy storage systems manufacturers showcased their latest innovations. Among the technologies gaining attention was the groundbreaking massless energy storage structural battery, which promises to integrate energy storage directly into structural components for greater efficiency.
Notably, BLOO POWER is playing a key role as one of the technology partners, supplying advanced solutions for several of the projects. Among these initiatives, the 900 MW Ras Ghareb wind power project is being developed by a consortium comprising Orascom Construction, Engie, and a subsidiary of Toyota Tsusho; concurrently, the parties signed a land use agreement. Meanwhile, the Kemete Company secured the rights to construct the 2,000 MW Naga Hammadi photovoltaic (PV) power plant and its accompanying 2,000 MWh standalone energy storage facility; the company is also set to develop 320 MW and 400 MW PV projects in East Oweinat.
Following government approval in February of this year, these projects proceeded to the PPA signing stage, marking a significant milestone in Egypt's efforts to diversify its energy mix and advance sustainable development.
