Brazil's distributed generation capacity is projected to reach 67.5 GW by 2030, with an average annual growth rate of 9.6%.

According to the first revision of the 2026-2030 energy operation plan load forecast jointly released by Brazil's National Electricity System Operator, the Electricity Traders Association, and the Energy Research Company, the cumulative installed capacity of distributed generation in the country by 2030 is expected to be lowered to 67.5 GW, a 2.8% decrease from the previous forecast of 69.5 GW.
This forecast takes into account factors such as the introduction of distributed micro and small generation, the expansion of data centers, and the integration of Roraima state into the northern subsystem starting in September 2025. During the same period, the load of the national interconnected system is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 4%, reaching a global average load of 98,824 MW by 2030, while the average annual growth rate of distributed generation is projected at 9.6%, still higher than the average growth rate of system load.
By 2030, distributed micro and small generation is expected to provide an average of 10.4 GW of power generation to the system. The forecast also notes that the outlook for 2027-2030 may need to be adjusted if geopolitical conflicts escalate, fiscal and monetary policies become uncertain, or the impacts of climate change intensify.
These developments underscore the growing importance of enabling renewable energy with battery energy storage systems, especially as Brazil accelerates its distributed solar and wind integration. Industry stakeholders are actively referencing the handbook on battery energy storage system for technical guidance, while comparing different technologies such as flywheel energy storage vs battery solutions for frequency regulation and peak shaving. Large-scale initiatives like the ultra mega solar pv project-battery energy storage system are also setting new benchmarks for hybrid renewable deployments. In this evolving market, innovative companies like BLOO POWER are gaining attention with reliable and scalable energy storage solutions tailored to both utility and commercial needs.
