Austria has launched the first round of applications for subsidies for photovoltaic systems and energy storage facilities in 2025. The total annual subsidy is limited to the minimum standard of 60 million euros stipulated in the Renewable Energy Development Act EAG, and energy storage systems can receive a fixed subsidy of 150 euros per kilowatt-hour (1,238.56 yuan). The first round of applications will last until May 8.

The Austrian government announced that it will introduce a "Made in Europe" incentive mechanism from the second round of subsidies, providing an additional 20% subsidy for photovoltaic and energy storage projects using European-produced components.

The Austrian Ministry of Energy plans to revise the policy rules in the fourth quarter. In the future, only photovoltaic systems with storage will be subsidized; the subsidy model will shift to a difference contract mechanism; and subsidies will be cancelled during periods of negative electricity prices. The policy will also strengthen support for wind, solar and storage hybrid systems and simplify administrative approval procedures.
