As of the end of May 2025, the cumulative installed capacity of battery energy storage in Germany has reached 13.08 GW/20.35 GWh, accounting for more than 30% of the total capacity in Europe.
So far, over 80% of the large-scale energy storage projects in Germany have a capacity of less than 8MW/14MWh. From January to May, Germany added 239.59MW/445.51MWh of large-scale storage, with a year-on-year increase of 53.42% (power) and 96.52% (capacity). It accounted for 18.82% (power) and 21.58% (capacity) of the newly added market. Compared to the 9.65% (power) and 9.37% (capacity) in the same period last year, the proportion has significantly increased. Germany is moving away from its "dependence on a single market" and entering a new stage of diversification and structural reshaping.
