The Ministry of Climate and Environment of Poland has released the draft of the main auction parameters for the 2030 delivery year of the electricity market. The total demand is 10,720 MW. The KWD coefficient for battery energy storage is 13.39%, and for gas technology it is 93.28%. The auction is scheduled to be held on December 11, 2025. The demand may be reduced based on the supplementary auction on July 17.
The industry believes that this draft poses a significant threat to the Polish energy storage market. The Polish Energy Storage Association stated that the low KWD coefficient will severely undermine the fairness and enthusiasm of energy storage participation in the market, and also indicates that the Polish regulatory authorities plan to exclude energy storage from participating in the next round of capacity market auctions.
By the end of May 2025, the total installed capacity of energy storage projects in Poland that had met grid connection conditions or had signed grid connection agreements had increased to 64.4 GW.
