Lion E-Mobility AG, a Swiss lithium-ion battery pack manufacturer, is collaborating with Münchner Solarkraftwerke, a company specializing in the implementation of PV and battery storage projects, through its subsidiary Lion Smart Production. The partnership plans to deliver over 40 energy storage projects, strictly limited to 5 MW and 150 MW, by 2028. These projects will be implemented as standalone and PV-coupled battery energy storage systems, with grid connection scheduled between 2026 and 2028.
Each BESS project will utilize Lion Smart's proprietary battery storage system, equipped with inverters and power supply systems (PCS), designed to provide temporary solar energy storage and high-yield grid services. Grid connection constraints require the projects to be implemented within a specified window, but the company did not disclose the total investment amount. Furthermore, the project portfolio is expected to enhance market competitiveness by combining technical expertise.
Lion emphasized that this move opens up significant revenue potential for the German grid market, with the 40 projects expected to be key revenue drivers in the short to medium term. CEO Joachim Damasky said that combining battery technology and development experience lays the foundation for growth in a scalable business model, and the effectiveness mechanism relies on the efficiency of cooperative execution.
