Poland is accelerating the approval process for 9 GW of wind power projects and has agreed to conditions for large-scale energy storage grid connection.
On August 27, 2025, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced at a cabinet meeting that he would accelerate the development of renewable energy, despite the president's veto of the energy pricing bill. The plan aims to rapidly increase clean energy production by streamlining regulations and investment processes, with a particular focus on wind power. The goal is to install 9 GW of new onshore wind power and 6 GW of offshore wind power by 2030.
The government will revise environmental impact assessment regulations to prioritize wind power investment projects and promote efficiency improvements at existing onshore wind farms. The heads of regional environmental protection agencies will streamline internal regulations to ensure that wind power applications are approved without delay, accelerating the goal of achieving a 30% share of installed wind power. Poland currently has 10 GW of onshore wind power capacity, and capacity is expected to double within five years.
Minister of Climate and Environment Paulina Hennig-Kloska emphasized that wind power not only promotes clean energy and energy conservation but also enhances energy security. In addition, operators have agreed to the conditions for connecting 25 GW of large-scale energy storage facilities to the grid to stabilize the supply of wind and solar power. Through these measures, Poland's energy will become cleaner and cheaper. Although the reform was rejected, it continues to advance through administrative means.
