The Polish Energy Regulatory Office approves a 2026 residential electricity sales price of PLN 495.16/MWh, with an average 9.36% increase in distribution fees.

The President of the Polish Energy Regulatory Office approved the electricity sales tariffs for household consumers for 2026, covering four designated suppliers: PGE Obrót, Tauron Sales, Enea, and Energa Sales. The regulator also approved the distribution tariffs for five major distribution system operators: PGE, Tauron, Enea, Energa, and Stoen Operator.

Polish Renewable Energy Storage

From January 1, 2026, household energy storage consumers using the sales tariffs approved by the President of the Energy Regulatory Office will pay an average of PLN 495.16 per megawatt-hour, a decrease compared to the "frozen" prices in effect in 2025. This represents an average decrease of approximately 14% compared to the prices approved in the fourth quarter of 2025, and a decrease of approximately 1% compared to the "frozen" prices. Distribution tariffs, however, will increase by an average of 9.36% compared to 2025 prices, equivalent to approximately PLN 28 per megawatt-hour, primarily due to the investment costs borne by grid infrastructure operators for the expansion and modernization of the transmission and distribution networks.

The distribution tariff includes several statutory surcharges. These include a cogeneration fee of PLN 3 per megawatt-hour to support combined heat and power generation; a capacity fee for consumers with monthly consumption between 1.2 and 2.8 megawatt-hours, set at PLN 17.18 per month, aimed at funding energy security; a renewable energy fee of PLN 7.3 per megawatt-hour to support renewable energy generation and increase the share of green energy in the energy mix; and a system usage fee of PLN 0.0331 per kilowatt-hour, payable to the Polish transmission system operator PSE. Nearly 90% of household electricity consumers use the G11 tariff group, with an average annual consumption of 1.8 megawatt-hours. For these households, the average monthly bill increase will be approximately 3%, comparable to the inflation rate.
