Jan-Apr China Energy Storage Battery Output Tops 110GWh

From January to April in 2025, the lithium-ion battery industry in China continued its growth trend. According to the enterprise information disclosed in the lithium-ion battery industry's standardization announcement and the estimations of industry associations, the total output of lithium-ion batteries in China in the first four months exceeded 473 GWh, with a year-on-year growth of 68%.
In the battery sector, the output of energy storage-type lithium batteries from January to April exceeded 110 GWh, and the installed capacity of power-type lithium batteries for new energy vehicles was approximately 184 GWh. The total export value of lithium batteries nationwide from January to April reached 155.4 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 25%.
In the first-level material section, the production volumes of positive electrode materials, negative electrode materials, separators, and electrolytes in January to April were approximately 11.5 million tons, 7.6 million tons, 8 billion square meters, and 4.7 million tons respectively, with year-on-year growth rates all exceeding 40%.
In the second-tier material section, the production of battery-grade lithium carbonate in January to April was 270,000 tons, up by 60% year-on-year. The production of battery-grade lithium hydroxide was 90,000 tons, down by 14% year-on-year. The average prices of battery-grade lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide (fine powder grade) from January to April were 74,000 yuan per ton and 76,000 yuan per ton respectively.
