The Oregon Department of Energy has announced the reopening of the state's popular solar and energy storage rebate program, with applications being accepted starting June 15, 2026. The program, which was previously suspended in mid-2024 due to a depletion of funds, will now receive a new allocation of $1.1 million. This funding is derived from administrative cost savings as well as rebates from previous rounds that were either canceled or left uncompleted.

The rebates are available to homeowners statewide, offering a maximum of $5,000 for residential solar installations and up to $2,500 for residential solar energy battery storage system installations. This incentive comes at a time when the battery energy storage system market continues to expand rapidly across the U.S., driven by growing demand for reliable home energy solutions. Additionally, eligible low-income service providers-including non-profit organizations, municipal agencies, and other entities serving low-income communities-may receive up to $30,000. Rebates are disbursed through contractors approved by the Oregon Department of Energy, who pass the full rebate amount on to their customers in the form of an upfront discount.

Many homeowners are opting for systems featuring lithium iron phosphate battery technology due to its superior safety profile and long cycle life. Customers of Portland General Electric and Pacific Power may also access additional solar and energy storage incentives through the non-profit organization Energy Trust of Oregon, covering residential, commercial, multi-family, and agricultural sectors.

Leading battery energy storage systems manufacturers such as BLOO POWER are well-positioned to benefit from the program, as their products are increasingly popular among Oregon contractors and installers. First authorized by the Oregon Legislature in 2019, the program has to date distributed over $23.5 million in rebates. The Oregon Department of Energy anticipates that the available funds will be fully reserved quickly following the program's launch on June 15. Contractors previously registered to participate in the program may continue to do so, while the Department is currently accepting registration applications from new contractors.
